Our Practices

Regenerative Agriculture
We strive to follow regenerative practices as a philosophy to rebuild our soil health. The intention behind regenerative agriculture is to work with nature instead of against it. It focuses on rebuilding degradation and soil to make the land healthier than it currently is.
As we rebuild our land pasture by pasture, we avoid synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Instead, we rely on our livestock to graze the land and naturally fertilize the soil. Our ruminants have the ability to ferment plants through microbial processes in their guts.
The result is a highly potent manure they spread throughout the pasture. When paired with natural soil aeration provided by their hooves, these animals stimulate the biological elements of healthy grass and soil in the most efficient and earth friendly way possible.
Conservation
The San Pedro River is a north running stream originating in Mexico. This watershed divides our ranch into two sections. We dedicated 70 acres of our ranch to wildlife habitat surrounding the river. The Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy completes yearly bird counts in this area and has recorded more than double the amount of bird species on the ranch in the last three years alone.
Our Livestock
Our livestock are raised free of hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and vaccines. They drink water from wells on our ranch and spend 365 days a year outside. We follow humane animal practices moving animals slowly and intentionally.
On Site Processing
We operate an inspected processing plant on site at the ranch. This plays an important role in the management of our livestock. We take pride in a stress free environment for our animals as we do not have to trailer our animals to another location for processing. The processing plant allows our butchers to make informed decisions on appropriate cuts for each carcass.
As we expand our plant, we look forward to supporting more ranchers, creating jobs for our rural area, and preserving a way of life our great grandfathers knew.
